Aspiration (Special Thanks to Irene)
January 18, 2006
Google, one of the greatest inventions ever, created by Stanford students, claims that “Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.â€? As a Finance student, my aspiration is to make financial services universally accessible and useful for everyone.
Admittedly, financial services like student loans and mortgages are not accessible for everyone, especially in China. Thousands of qualified students cannot afford college education because of incomplete education financing system. And for those graduates, they have to work doubly hard to buy a house, because they can hardly get mortgages. The fact that the rich get more and better financial services aggravates social inequality resulting in a worse-off situation.
As director of one of the largest student organizations concerning Finance nationwide, I had many opportunities to talk with key persons in this sector. While talking with Mr. Hu, vice-president of Standard Poors about the outlook of mortgage products in China, I was thinking about how financial services help people live a better life globally and how all of these could happen in China. Fortunately, as a finance student, I believe I can use my knowledge and professional skills to make it happen in the near future. In fact, last year, I had a great experience of being a member of a start-up team to design credit cards for college students. Our product was ranked top 3 among 100+ business plans in Peking University and attracted several investors.
It’s all about helping people with their financial status, through which I could enjoy giving and sharing, thinking and practicing, learning and inventing. It’s all about a right way of doing business: integrity, equality and innovation.
Special Thanks to Irene: she spent so much time to correct every mistake.
